Level 33 of the iconic Tower 42 building in central London is the office of Taylor Vinters, a progressive law firm with a well-established client base throughout the UK and an ever-expanding Global client base in the Tech Sector.  We have been fortunate enough to have worked with Taylor Vinters since 2007 helping them with Consultancy, Design and Fitout and Refurbishment projects within their London and Cambridge offices.

We were approached by Taylor Vinters in late 2017 and asked if we could come up with some options to refresh and modernise 2 wings of the space at Level 33 to a high standard whilst maintaining the majority of the original floorcoverings and ceilings throughout much of the build, in order to fit in with their tight budget and build perimeters.

We had recently Carried out a fit out project in a different building for Taylor Vinters, and the results in increased staff collaboration, focus space and overall productivity benefits for the staff have been very noticeable. Taylor Vinters wished to change the Workspace model at their London office to reflect these same changes with the addition of a large, non-bookable, collaboration space for visitors, clients and staff. Many of the staff at the London office, had been part of our previous project and were already positioned to transition over to Agile working, so this project required less change management than we usually have to account for.

Overall the headcount density across the London office has increased by around 20%, the amount of free space and meeting rooms have increased and the removal of various cellular office within the floor has allowed a large increase in the spread of natural light throughout. The new “jump space” area suits for the changing dynamics within this organisation as the percentage of Y Generation millennials is increasing fast – evidencing itself in the senior staff not seeing the need for as many “space hungry” cellular offices. As we know from experience, however – a high percentage of work within a law firm requires confidentially and focus time – so the design ensures that there are plenty of non-bookable quiet spaces, where confidential calls and focused project work can take place.

This Project Included:

  • Design consultancy to create a new workspace model, including a Jump Space using flexible furniture.
  • Working to tight time frames during unsociable hours to minimise downtime and disruption within the building.
  • Design feature flooring, lighting and wall coverings.
  • Feature graphics
  • Full height glazed partitioning
  • Bespoke, flexible office furniture solution.
  • Alteration and Certification of existing services, including;- sprinkler system, lighting controls, HVAC & alteration to the Comms.
  • Full strip out and replacement of M&E in parts of the space to accommodate new layout.
