Midgate House is owned by Investec Bank. Investec is an international specialist banking and asset management group. It provides a range of financial products and services to a client base in international markets, they asked Officescape to refresh the entrance area and WC facilities at this Peterborough property.

This included decoration, refurbishment of Ladies and Gents WCs, reception/ entrance area design and build including internal and external lighting design.

Internally we clad the rear wall of the entrance and lift shaft with back painted glass cladding in order to lift the whole quality and feel of the building. We also fitting basalt granite flooring (a long lasting an easy to maintain product with a natural R rating for non-slip properties), creating a “run way strip” design detail externally/ internally which draws the eye into the building.

The scope included design and installation of a new exterior entrance cladding / façade which was sympathetic to the surrounding buildings including an external stainless steel clock.

The project was subject to planning permission which Officescape handled on the clients behalf including all construction and architectural drawing details.

Client Brief

Entrance and reception area refurbishment, including refurbishment of the Male/ Female WC’s throughout the common parts in the building to attract incoming tennets.

Our client – a major UK property investor instructed Officescape to produce a scheme and design in order to completely raise the profile of the building to any potential tenants in order to compete with other refurbished stock that was coming onto the market in the immediate CBD.

Of particular importance to the design was for the entrance from the street level to create an immediate first impression – with particular emphasis on the lighting scheme and design.

This project included:

  • Strip out existing entrance area finishes including glazed entrance doors.
  • Bespoke linear lighting
  • Flamed basalt granite flooring
  • New back painted glass cladding
  • Full lighting design scheme internally and externally
  • Emergency lighting upgrade
  • High specification entrance signage (internally and externally)
  • Toilet refurbishments
  • Supply and install bespoke exterior clock in stainless steel
  • Full planning submission and approval on the client’s behalf – all passed in record time with on minor amendments required!
