When it comes to redesigning your office, there are a lot of things to consider. Not only is there the question of how your staff will utilise a space, but there’s also the issue of whether you’re favouring one personality type or demographic over the other.

Although offices tend to attract applicants that have similar traits, there’s usually a combination of employees who are either introverted or extroverted. As a result, creating a multi-functional office that’s open plan may see extroverts thrive more than their introverted counterparts. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t be creative with your workplace design, it’s a case of thinking about how you can create spaces where you see an increase in productivity for all members of the team and not just a small proportion.

Choose Colours Wisely

There are an infinite number of shades to choose from when picking the main palettes you want for your office, so it’s important to decide on a hue that increases productivity and isn’t overbearing. Incorporating different colours into your office are a great way to inject personality and signpost different departments, but neutral shades may be more aesthetically pleasing for the majority of the workforce.

Choosing from a monochrome palette doesn’t necessarily mean boring, however, and there are a number of different ways to inject vibrant colours. Unique ways to incorporate some life into an office include plants walls or feature walls that are relevant to your line of business.

Use Furniture to Cater to Everyone

One of the issues with a multi-purpose workspace is that they are often better catered for extroverted members of the workplace. However, since the need to create a space that allows different members to partake in different activities is at the heart of the design, it’s just as easy to enable introverted members to be productive.

Including cubby holes, private booths, long workbenches and more casual tables and chairs will enable all members of the workforce to find a place that they find suits their personality and working style the best. The key is space planning effectively to make sure that all demographics have the flexibility to work in their preferred style.
