Whether you’re the early bird who catches the emails, or you stagger into the office 30 seconds before the 9am curfew – it’s always hard to hit the desk and be productive every single day. Sometimes it feels even harder if you’re lucky enough to have your own office, or your favourite work BFF is off sick. Seriously, who are you going to send your super witty and super funny emails to now?

But that’s the nature of a job, right? Nope, and it’s time for change. So, clean your desk and get ‘Eye of the Tiger’ on full blast – it’s time to get creative and transform that office design into a productive hub of awesomeness. Good luck!

1. Plan it!

Get to your desk about 15 minutes before you start, and write up a few to-do lists and plans of action that you aim to get on with during the day! This’ll help you to keep focused and on-track, whatever the boss throws at you! And for order of importance – aim to list your ‘must-dos’  for the morning. That way, you’ll get all the boring and important stuff out of the way first, and your afternoon will be free to explore YouTube… I mean, do more work.

2. Take Your Breaks (And Enjoy ‘Em!)

If OfficeScape LLP have already kitted out your office, well, we totally understand why you love being at work more than you like being at home, but seriously – take your lunch breaks! If you work on a computer, it’s recommended that you take plenty of mini-breaks throughout the working day to rest your peepers. Breaks also make the day go faster, and will have you feeling more productive and ready-for-action when you return to your desk.

3. Rock The Clock

Rather than working on a particular project until it’s finished, aim to work on a project for a set period of time, and then change your focus. By changing your plan of action, you’ll be able to give the project your all and keep it productive, eliminating the tedious feel of looking at the same thing day in, day out.

4. Keep Organised!

Sure, this may seem like an obvious – but always keep organised! We’re talking emails, paperwork, pen pots and everything else you use on a daily basis. Use paper racks to filter the good stuff, and start shredding that pile of paper you’ve had on your desk since you started. A clean desk is a happy desk – so get organised and you’ll soon start to feel like a professional badman!

5. Drink Up!

Hydration is the key to feeling refreshed at work, so utilise that free water-cooler and get hydrated! Keep a refillable bottle of water on your desk, and aim to drink at least 1.5 litres a day. Water is brain-juice, so keep your noggin watered and you’ll soon start to be amazed by the awesome ideas that you’re coming up with!

6. Listen To Music You Love!

Some prefer classical, and others enjoy a good old indie anthem – whatever your jam, make a work playlist that’ll get you in the working mood and have you steaming through your tasks like a machine! Music is great for helping you to settle into your work routine, and can often drown out those annoying co-workers you’d just rather not hear.

Tip: It’s has been proven that while listening to Classical music, your IQ actually increases – so you may just want to give that a try!
